Q. What is the difference between stretch and yoga?
A.  Yoga is a life philosophy promoting harmony and balance, and class participants will experience elements of this philosophy throughout the class. Generally, yoga movements and postures involve a combination of strength, balance and flexibility. On the other hand, the aim of stretch (the P&F system) is to simply improve your flexibility and strength safely and efficiently. Stretches are developed for single muscle groups making it easy to progress. You should check with the teachers to determine which class is appropriate for you. Both Yoga and P&F can be practised by anyone, regardless of age or physical ability.

Q. I'd like to try yoga but I'm not sure if I’m interested in the philosophy aspect of it. Is it okay to come along and try it?
A. You are able to enrol for a four week block of classes, after which time you will start to be able to gauge whether or not yoga is for you. Classes are usually 1 ½ hours long and the main component of the class, just over an hour, is posture practice.  Approximately 25 minutes is devoted to breathing practice and relaxation. Many people enjoy learning about the yoga traditions and how they apply to our lives. Teachers incorporate these into their classes depending on the various students’ levels of interest.

Q. I have a chronic shoulder/hip/lower back condition, am I still able to participate in a class?
A. If you are currently seeing a health practitioner - eg. GP, chiropractor, physiotherapist, you should discuss your class participation with him/her.
